RS4 wanne be ... how do i get those arches!!

Hi, i've just joined and this is my first post!

I really love the shape of the A4 Avant particularly the RS4 with the extended wheel arches.....

.... so in a perfect world i would buy an RS4, but no way no how, been looking on Autotrader for a while and £33k your taking the p*ss, i have over that in student debt to pay off first!!!! :x

Well i'm going to have to settle for a 2.6 Quattro Avant (£6k), but i still want those arches!!

So has anyone been able to get hold of the inner and outer arches for the RS4 as a replacement? Or has some wanna be (like me) carried out the same modification?

Cost and somewhere to purchase would be cool too!!

Another question looking at the pics it's hard to tell but is there any change in the track of the RS4 over the standard variants (excluding wheel widths of course) as i'm aiming for a set of sportec 19"x9" and wondering am i gonna have to go wider to fill the arches?

I know you guy's don't like wanna be's, but if any of you have standard parts you want to sell, wheels, brakes, bodywork etc drop us an email!!

Try VAG parts they can probably sell you the arches etc as for if they fit I am not sure

I have seen a few pictures of guys in the US doing this to an S4, not sure about other models

Good luck

yeah it can be done. Mate of mine who runs a body shop did an A4 avant that had had a 300hp tt lump dropped into it.

Hey replies, who would of beleved it!

Thanx gents, i'll post the link for the website as soon as the project kicks off, if anyone has any good names in the bodywork business (North West of England) would be glad to hear of them as i'm new to the area.

Another quick question, would AMD be the best Audi tuning company as i'm a bit new to the brand, is thr any others you all would recommend?

cheers,

Boyd

Tuning wise you'd best forget the 2.6, you'll have far more luck with the 1.8T. I expect you'd struggle to get 170BHP from the 2.6 whereas 200+ is easily obtainable from the 1.8T.
If it's Quattro you're specifically after then the 1.8T Quattro will suit you, but you may find it hard to get one for £6k.

Swings and roundabouts with simple chip tuning but when you're changing components like turbo's then some tuners don't offer that sevice.

Others to think about are MTM, Revo, APR, Oettinger etc.

All the best ,

Ben

Cheers for your advise guys!

I've been in touch with Martyn down at VASPARTS and he is certainly a bit of a legend!!

He has supplied me with all the required part numbers and a parts prices.

Totalling about £4200 ouch!!

Saying that this does include both new front and rear doors, sills, bumpers all bracketry etc to convert the exterior of a standard A4 Avant to an exact replica of an RS4 using 98% OE parts!!

This doesn't include the wheels (if you were wondering)

K the projects on!!!!

P.S. The engine will be the next bit! tuned 1.8T from the A4 or drop in a TT 225 1.8T turn-key? What's my other options??

buy a rs4 :)

You can make it look like one, but its the feel you will never get in the 1.8T or 2.6.

Let the RS4 be a dream and you strive towards it, in the mean time drive a shitbox :)

Great news.
Other option is to get an S4 and modify it. They are getting excellent value now.
Engine conversions are a pretty big job, the TT/S3 engine is the other way round to the A4 1.8T so could proove a real nightmare - but I'm no expert.
Stick with a 1.8T, slap a big turbo kit on it from someone like Jabba, get some Racelogic traction control and off you go :D

All the best,

Ben

I agree, high mileage S4 and mod it

Have the performance more than the looks is my suggestion

Agree with Bushy. Its a lot of work to do to achieve what is essentially one of the ultimate Q - cars.

Only those that would know an RS4 would know its an RS4, but it wouldnt be. Everybody else would think its an Audi A4 estate with Big wheels and flared arches. Far better to have 265bhp!!!

START SAVING for the RS !......

When I'm back in the UK, April 15th, PM me and I'll take you out in the car. You'll know what I mean when power is preferrable to looks.....

Yeah, I paid a smidge over 13K for my S4 - it's a LOT of car for 13K

I got to say it does seem a bit of a long and expensive way of trying to get near the real thing, and I agree with Iain 99% of drivers will only assume its a beefed up A4 Estate!!!
But, having said that I admire you in trying to copy an RS4, if your really still looking at dropping in 1.8T Audi in engine, you might want to look at www.jabbasport.com, they have developed the engine to out put 350bhp, with 330lb/ft of torque for a Shelsley TT Kit Car. I'm off to play with it in 2 weeks time, and having spoken to Pete Needham of shelsey Cars yesterday, he has already done 100 laps at Llandow with no problems at all with the Audi engine.
The engine and chassis will be at the Detling Kit~Car Show in kent on 3rd and 4th April if you want to see it up close. Jabba are using a IMI turbo from Japan and modified manifolds, plus alot of playing around with the ECU, this might be an option for you??

Now there's an idea? :bash:

Just been looking on Autotrader ..... hmmm that is very tempting!

Then i could even get Nogaro Blue! :)

We'll see, i did have a job lined up going back to Bentley (which has just fallen through :x ) so may have to re-think, the budjet!

cheers,

Boyd
