AMD

Hi,

I know a lot of you (most) are AMDophiles and I don't want to
offend anyone but this really p***es me off!

S4 2.7T remap - $549

S4 2.7T remap - £750

Thats about twice as much. I guess they have to compete
in the US market but it is yet another example of what mugs
us brits are...

I might ring them up and ask for a $549 remap - what
are my chances?

The US one may be an off the shelf installed map whereas the UK one is definately a custom rolling road job ?

That really sucks.
It would be interesting to know how they justify less than half the price for our US friends. I doubt they can, and this is reason enough for me to steer them a wide berth. They must think we're all mugs.

APR used to be the same, probably still are. But I guess they are based in the US. Neither offer RR setup as standard though.

just pointed this out to scott at AMD and he has offered the following

"Nilesh (amd usa) got the exchange rate the wrong way round, prices on the USA website will be corrected over the next couple of days"

Hope this helps!

Shame that you couldn't hold them to the advertised price !
I suspect that there would be one hell of a lot of AMD chipped S4s if you could...

Why do AMD have to fit wheel spacers?

They said they have to do them, half hour labour cost, and costs £180 (although it took long enought to get a straight price from them!) !!!!!!!!

David, what do you mean? That you are buying some wheel spacers and AMD say they have to fit them?

Maybe they machine them to fit but I don't think so. My AMD spacers have been off my car before (a good few times) and back, although they did 'fit' them at the same time as my brakes were originally fitted.

I rang after a price because a lot of people said it looks better than standard. They went on about how much each nut, spacer, work envolved etc. cost, and then followed up with they need to fit them at the cost of half an hours labour !

I'd had enough by then, because all I wanted was a price, but they eventually replied with "about £180"!

price is about right actually

spacers new bolts and lockers.

AmD orriginally fitted mine, and the refitted again on this S3, but i have taken them on and off myself in cleaning and swapping wheels back to front.

I just got 4 Eibach wheel spacers, 16 M14 lug nuts
(extra 5mm of thread) and a set of Mcguards for 130gbp
(thats including VAT and about 20 for postage).

Plus I just lashed out 130gbp on a repair at Audi which
AMD assured me would fix one of my problems. Did it? well,
er, no. I think someone needs to break their monopoly.

You guys with S3's and TT's should really be checking out
Jabbasport as an alternative.
