Guys,

Looking for some brakes for my S4, Saw this on ECS Tuning in the states ...

"ECS Stage 4 Big Brake Kit - (Red Porsche Cayenne 6 Piston Caliper-Slotted Rotors"

Including delivery charge of about $300 it comes to about $1800 which is under £1k for these 6pot brakes? Is that not a good deal? (Assuming I do not pay the import duty, but even then?!)

r

Why don't you shop around for the calipers and disks in the UK and just get ecs to ship the caliper brackets over ?

I was looking at those this evening too.
Are the replacement discs/pads as cheap/easily available as the 'big red' 322 setup from the 993TT

Be careful, its not an OEM Porsche disc, its an ECS one.

Also, I know for a fact ECS will not split the kits and sell the adpaters alone...

there are no trackpads at the moment! also you would need 18in wheels minimum.

As I thought. Not quite as good as it first looked. Oh well

So did anyone buy these 6 pot brakes?? I see from the ECS site that they are monoblocs as well. Will these be 'too' powerful combined with the stock rear brakes?

Or will I be better off sticking to the renowned 993 TT 4 pot ones?

I need better brakes and I have only had my S4 nearly a month!! There again, I had my clutch smoking tonight as I finally launched her away from the lights for the first time - maybe time for a new clutch soon!!

Mate, if the 993TT setup is good enough for a 400hp Porka, it would be good enough for the S4.

Put some 993TT's on the rear of your car.. with the fronts it should stop on a dime!!

yeah they're good enough for Porsche, however if you can't get enough cool air over them in the first place then maybe having bigger 6 pots is no good anyway...

I have the 6 pot movits on 360mm discs or is it 380mm discs, not sure but they do not fit under the 18" rims, need 19s, they look the same as the porshe ones, but not sure if they are

As for stopping - AWESOME

Wrong. According to Stoptech, the 993TT 4 wheel kit on the S4 rear biases the brakes detrimentally, so you both increase you stopping distance and unsettle the car under severe braking.

The 911 has a large part of it's mass over the rear wheels which is why it has comparable large rear brakes (and comparably small front brakes). A straight lift of a 993TT set-up to a front-engined car will not be very effective. The thing to do is compare the 993TT brakes with the 928GTS and you'll see the difference that Porsche deem necessary between a rear-engined and front-engined car.

David, Stoptech actually admitted that the 993TT 2 wheel kit (ie front upgrade) was a good balanced upgrade on Audiworld... Their marketing material actually refers to testing done with the kit fitted on all 4 wheels, which as we know with the differences between the 993TT and the S4, the 4 wheel upgrade kit wouldn't work too well anyway..
