Painting wheels

Does anyone have experience of changing the colour of alloy wheels? With this bad weather I havent been cleaning my car much, and with the front wheels being full of brake dust, they look kinder anthracite.
At some stage I plan on getting another set of RS TT wheels for track days (going through tyres is expensive!), so if it doesnt look too good I will have another set for standard looks.
My car is black and I think it would look okay with anthracite RS TT wheels. I once had a set of motorbike wheels powder coated, but I'm not sure what is involved on car alloys.
Anyone?

I reckon it would look pretty good. Mick photoshopped a black S3 with grey RSTT's a while back.
The only thing I remember Chris mentioning was that when you kerb the wheels then the alloy underneath sticks out like a sore thumb.
Cheers

To be honest i would get them painted in 2 pack paint and baked, i wouldn't bother with the extra cost of powder coating as the results are virtually identical.

Simon Elman's business is powder coating amongst other things. Ask him for a price.

Duncan a translucent lacquer would be even better as the metallic sheen would still show through.

Dunc - I thought about doing this a while ago. I fancied doing them the same colour as the bumper inserts and side trims etc. Thought it would look nice especially if they had a few coats of laquer on them. I still might get them done, but what I think I'll do first is get hold of a damaged one (my mate works in a VAG(Seat) body shop) and paint that first to see what they would look like.
I like the look of the Cupra R's with the anthracite wheels, that what initially gave me the thought.
I'll let you know if I get hold of a wheel and post up some pics.
