limp mode... help needed!?

Hi all, I need your help..
Here it is: When I start the car in the morning, it drives normal (boost wise) then after about 5 minutes it looks like it goes into "limp mode" and starts to drive lacking some of the boost (no EPC light though!). It lacks power. Than say 5-10 minutes after it goes into limp mode, it starts to drive normally back again and stays normal afterwards. If I park and stop the engine for some time during the day, and then start the engine, same thing happens again but without the "normal" phase before the limp mode (car goes directly into limp mode and goes back to normal after 5-10 mins).
I bought this car a few days ago and I think this should not be normal right?
I do not have the VAG-COM but I think this has something to do with the cats and temperature sensor. What do you think?
Oh, by the way; I parked the car today when I came home and before stopping the engine I put my hand close to the exhaust tips and realized that the gas leaving the exhaust felt quite hot to me. It might be normal but I just wanted to you to know...
