BIG brakes

my front discs and pads on my 99 T S4 are starting to show signs of being old and sh1t, i need to replace them before to long but am unsure of what to replace them with.. i'm aware of all the expensive movit and porsche ones which cost £1500 and up, but i really cant afford them without saving up for them for months (years if i keep going out, drinking.. ) but my ones wont last that long.. i dont want to put standard ones on there either tho.. i've been told that 'dba brakes' are supposed to be quite good http://www.dbadiscs.com/acatalog/copy_o ... odels.html they just bolt straight on and you use the standard calipers, plus they look better than standard ones, and i'm hopeing that with some green stuff pads, they wouldn't be half bad. any views or recomendations? thanks in advance!! Jeff sure rates the Hi-Spec's

Mind you, with the exchange rate as it is, you may be able to get porsche stuff from the states for Hi-Spec money.

Looking at the rotors from that link the grooved (rather than drilled) rotor looks fine. Match it with a pair of Ferodo 2500 (or 2000) and it will be an OK road system, probable. Say £300 - £350 all up. If you take it to a track or use the car hard on the road they will not be upto it. A HiSpec System (there, youre all happy now ) would cost you around £1100 for the 4-Pot Monsters on a 355 x 32 rotor and will stop the car very rapidly indeed.

Pays your money and takes your chances.....

The first and third disc (£200) on the link above look suspiciously like the standard rotor that has been drilled and then grooved and the middle bit has been powder coated..... Hmmm.

Tarox have made an S4 compatible disc that I might try next, they'll machine it for free if it warps...

Have a look here HiSpec for Audi . The prices doesn't include pads (I think).

If your brakes are worn and you can't afford an upgraded system you'd be better off replacing the rotors & pads in your standard system.....

I might be in for that group buy sometime ... just got new disks + pads, but stock disks still ... I need to just pay that extra and get some good disks that I do not have to keep replacing!
