What you are talking about here is a road legal track day tyre... in the ilk of Michelin Pilot Sport CUP or Yokohama A032R soft.

These tyres are designed and built with one aim - performance. At the Nurburgring we generally see a car with the same driver (i'm thinking of Keith Maddock with his Porsche 968 Clubsport) switching between Pilot Sport and Pilot Sport Cups.. he will be nearly 30 seconds a lap faster on the Cups.

The bad news - they are crap in the wet and don't last long. It's also very critical to get tyre temperatures up.. and watch the tyre pressure to get the grip they can give.

It's all in the compound.

So.. if really - they are summer tyres, for trackdays etc where you can regularly control pressure etc to get the best from them.

Kenny

If you are looking for a good set of semi-slicks. The Advan A-048 G/S compound is very good. This compound is catered for short course races. Therefore, minimal warm up is needed! However, they are very very soft!!

That's good to know. Having moved from the Bridgestone 225/45/17 on my previous AMD chipped S4 to the part worn P Zeros on my two week owned RS4 these P zeros are bloody awfull and I only have one recommendation from Steve on Goodyears which he reckons are a marked improvement over the P Zeros . However, he's talking £165 each I think?

Any other comments..?

I have a set of these on a set of 18" Sportecs for Dry Trackdays, they are superb, very sticky when up to temprature
Very similar to Pirelli Corsa

The Dunlop SSR is close to slick performance and pretty ok on wet !

But it's too expensive and no 19".
