Turbo Whine

Post by Joshie » Tue Feb 04, 2003 2:14 pm

Yesterday I noticed that the turbo whine under throttle between 3000 and 6000 revs is much louder than usual. Perhaps this is due to the DV's (now using the Bosch OEM ones pending the servicing of the Forge DV). Accelleration is really great but I can hear the turbos whistling under full throttle.

I've been very careful to allow the turbos time to cool down after returning home etc and therefore I'm a little confused as to why they are noisier than normal.

Can the RS4/S4 drivers confirm if they can hear the turbos on WOT when the windows are closed (radio off!)?

Very quietly towards the top of the rev range (after about 4000 rpm) I can hear a slight whistle, but it is very quiet, and almost masked out by the exhaust noise
