I have read a few comments on Octane Boosters, with some people saying they are not good for Cats or Engines.

Since I always use Millers - has anyone else got any comments on whether this is safe or not to use? I have to admit I have never noticed a difference in using Millers, I just generally use it as I feel it is safer to use it when you are advancing timing with the Revo code.

i've never used this additive as i understand it the millers increases the ron value of the petrol, how much more dose the millers give you and can you say that there is a marked improvment in performance and if so were can you get it thanks for any info [img]images/graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]

Anyone wanting Millers at Oulton please say so £25 a box of 10.

Miller nah worries mate, my engine clean as a whistle around the exhaust valves and remember i seen them apart, and ive used Miller for years.

The main component of Millers is a toxic hydrocarbon which can indeed damage catalystic converters and the environment too. However I have not read any reports of it damaging engines.

Damage to cats will only occur if you use too much. As long as you stick to 1 bottle per 50 litres of fuel you will be fine.

Also, please avoid skin contact with Millers - as I stated it is toxic.

Aye it's interesting that I didn't know that some petrol additives could damage the CATs until last week when I was rebuilding the neighbours astra diesel engine (stop it... It was compensation for reversing my S4 into his escort the very day I'd advertised to sell my luvley yellow peril. Unfecking believable [img]images/graemlins/cry.gif[/img] [img]images/graemlins/cry.gif[/img] anyways, the haynes manual for the Astra had this very statement and I did think to myself, "Well that would be millers, Redex, Fuel injector cleaner etc."

But it's conforting to know that Mr Roberts hasn't had any trouble, however, John your comments about the valves is slightly misleading when it's the CATs that are under question and you've changed these quite early on too.

Having said that I also noted that the Haynes manual expected the service life of a CAT to be between 60K and 100K miles.

Anyways - I'm not picking on you John, thanks to your goodself I have a box of Millers at home [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img] for the odd occasions I travel to the far west - Aye north west Scotland and the far North East. Optimax is rare, well none existant north of Nairn but there are a couple of BP's and Q8 stations selling 97 & 98 Ron respectively.

I think I noticed a difference when I put the Millers in my previous chipped S4 as the car certainly went well, and I don't think this was due to atmospheric conditions either.

The Millers we use (there are other types of Millers) is meant to be CAT safe according to the manafacturers.
