Another brake question

Post by Carps » Sun Nov 02, 2003 9:31 am

I have managed to find a set of 996TT monoblocs, complete with discs and pads (only 4000 miles covered).
Does anyone out there know what else I will need to fit them up to my S4.
Obviously an adapter plate for the caliper, but what about the mounting of the discs ?
Also, when fitting are any adjustments made to the brake balance ? Or is the fitting best left to the real pros ?

Cheers in advance

Hmmmm, spoke to AMD and Kim Collins today and neither seem interested in supplying caliper brackets and bells. Does anyone know anywhere else I might try ?

Cheers

Thanks for that
Unfortunately to produce the caliper bracket and bell they require an entire front suspension/brake assembly detached from the car. Not something I can provide
Unless anyone else has an idea (or a front corner from an S4) looks like I'll be stuck with the off the shelf solutions (Movit, AP, AMD, etc...)

Cheers

have you tried Forge? I have heard in the past that they supply these things.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

Sorted... How about joining BIRA? Not bad for $20..

Bira joining gives you access to the adaptor brackets they make for the porsche calipers.

Alternatively you could talk to QRSmotorsport - bira vendors in the states, they will supply & fit the lot if you don't have the calipers. They should be good for hints & tips if you are diy-ing it or having somewhere local fit them.

Keep us posted (I'm also interested in this route but am permenantly skint! )

Excellent info. Now I need to decide if the saving of a few hundred quid is worth all the hassle and secondhand calipers...

Cheers
