Back to Cosworth?

Post by TarmacTerrorist » Sat Nov 01, 2003 2:28 am

Just out of interest has anyone enquired back with Cosworth Technology to have engine mods/upgrades on their rs4/6 done by them? Everyone on the forum seems to like using mtm, revo, amd, etc. etc but out of all of the tuners I would have thought that Cosworth would be the people to be speaking with as they developed the engine in the first place and would have an enormous amount of old test data available to them. Well before the rs4/6 went into production they would have been testing these units to the extreme before deciding on 'safe' output figures for good reliability and a minimum amount of breakdowns/warranty claims. I would imagine though they ran these engines up alot higher than 380/450 bhp for very long periods of time before settling on those figures. It would be interesting reading the data from their testing, is this ever available? has anyone seen it or discussed it with them? What is the maximum bhp/torque they have had out of the engines in testing before self destruction etc 'inside' technical information the others may not have.

haha, your far away !! What about me ! Dig a hole, and keep going, i'm pretty much on the opposite side of the globe.

As for Cosworth and their tuning, I would be very interested to hear more. I didnt realise they did custom one off work. I would have assumed that someone would have used them prior though, if it was a real option ??

I contacted Cosworth about organising a visit, they never got back to me. I suggest we raise this at the meeting with quattro GmbH.
