US 91 Octane is over 95 RON octane, so its not SO impressive - I don't have the exact conversion to hand, so don't quote me on the 95 value.

Who are these guys anyway?

Garage company or do they buy the software from europe?
And why quote an ECU chip + tip chip separetly when they MUST be ordered both. That's just gonna leave people with a lot of questions.

They are big in the US ! There is a real smart guy behind the company. A Quality product, on par if not better than APR (US) and alike. All they do is chip tuning, and Nothing more. They cut chips for many of the 2nd tier Vag tuning houses, who then create kits (or the other way around that is). They also cut a few chips for Euro models too, but just a few.

wasn, you might be jumping the gun. Get the car first and enjoy it.. then get the chip...

I see you made your way from ozaudi Technically, this site is better!

Can't wait to see your new ride, very envious!

Personally, I'd never attack a 260kAUD car with a soldering iron, but each to their own. I'd be looking at APR's product or wait for a Australian Revo dealer..

Im sure AM Tuning HERE used to sell the GIAC chip down under but looking on their site now they have gone to the Garret chip? Why ? maybe someone else knows.

As many tuers as their are id still be very doubtful of 'any' company opening up my ECU and sticking a 40W soldering iron in it. No matter how many centuries they have been around.

Garrett is GIAC. The company is owned by Garrett Lim, who has a pretty good reputation in the US.

GIAC down under is a funny lot. Their local distributor loves slagging all the other tuners and says that dyno runs are completely useless. As the result of such, no dyno run is available on the single GIAC chipped RS4 over here or elsewhere.
What I can gather from dyno graphs of the 1.8 engine, the curves are similar to the MTM as they are quite spiky. It does not seem to translate to quicker 0-100 times though.
The chip is probably O.K. though.

err, whats that mean ?

My expereince with GIAC in AU/NZ is that LUCUS who has a 400hp A4, and from my understanding is the Master distributor, is a reasonable guy. From what I can see, most of their clients are A4 1.8T.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. GIAC seems, from my limited dealing with them, to be a reasonable choice if you dont want to fork out for the Tier One (Euro model, versus US model) tuners such as MTM, Sportec. Personally, I would go MTM, even if its 3x the price, as its a solid choice, including backup service.

However, if I was in the US, I would use GIAC, as they are very very well supported there.
