So I think i am going to go for this

I will have a set of Sportec and a set of the 5 spok RS6 ones

However the question I have is who is using what tyre on this rim?

I have always tried to maintain the 94Y rating Audi specified but can only find the following tyres, with my short search on the web, which are 30 profile

Also i am concerned as to which tyre will fet both rims as the Sportec rim looks a bit different to the RS6 rim

Any ideas anyone

Open the gallery and display the picture you would like to attach. Right click and go to Properties. Highlight the Address (URL) should look like this 'http://gallery.rs246.com/albums/TimJMS/clearance.JPG', then when it is highlighted in blue, do CTRL+C (Copy). To insert the image in a post use the Instant UBB Code -> Image, and paste the location (CTRL+V).

My car came with 255/35/19 ZR.. not sure on the loading.. will have to look
I have the 5 spoke alloys and the tyres are Continential Contact Sports II ... the seem Ok.. good wear and grip but nothing exceptional.

Y is the speed rating. And 96 is the load index. There is a table that translates this into kilograms and pounds...best one was one the pirelli site (if you can find the right page). There is also another chart that shows you how the maximum speed capability of tyre varies with load increase (carrying passengers, luggage etc). You need to use a combination of the load and speed rating to determine the capability of the particular tyres carrying the mass of your car plus whatever payload you carry. I will try and dig out some data if anyone wants.

One site I have to recommend is www.tirerack.com . They are in the States but have a massive amount of manufacturers data regarding tyres including dimensional stuff like diameters, section widths, revs per mile etc as well as test reports/surveys and treadwear/grip comparisons. Some surveys have feedback from millions of tyre miles from just one tyre type. Great place to have a browse and understand tyres.

You would also be amazed at the variation in revs per mile for a given tyre size from different manufacturers. This is important if you don't want to screw your speedo calibration. When I changed my wheels and tyres I spent some time establishing how accurate my speedo was before knowing how much the diameter could change whilst still maintaining optimistic speedo readings. Tyre manufacturer's data also allowed me to determine my own wheel offsets and tyre width/aspect ratios to avoid clashing suspension bits.

Still, it does seem long winded after the simplicity of RS4.org, but understand that the new way may be the best for reasons of forum speed for slow dial - up users like myself? Bushy if you really are that worried about having the correct load rating (and I am not overly concerned when its such a small difference, personally) Then you could try using a slightly wider spacer to go for the 275's, but then you have to start to wonder about the extra stresses being imposed on the wheel bearings under hard cornering!!!

Oh AND if the tyre is actually going to seat properly on the rim, Oh AND if the body work is then going to be sandblasted by road debris............

The SP9000 Dunlop's are 265/30/ZR19, load rating unsure I will check tomorrow - But believe it or not they are just turning 19000 careful miles [img]images/graemlins/roflmao.gif[/img] and still look as new - although they must be the worst tyre I've ever had on the car, even the Pirellis were better [img]images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Try the 265/30 Yokos mate, that's what I'm trying next, and it would be good to get your feedback [img]images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

The RS6 9x19" have ET 35mm so you will need spacers (15mm) to reach the 20mm. Right? What spacers can be used?
I am also hesitating buying the Sportec 8.5x19" or the RS6-ones. What could you suggest?
