REVO SPS-3 device for VAG-Com

Hello,
I saw in the Tuning Quick Reference Guide for the SPS-3 that :
"it is important to mention that Vag-Com -from RossTech- can be used along with your SPS-3 device to 'dial' the settings your car like best"
Has anyone done this ?
If so, what kind of cable did you use to connect the SPS-3 to your notebook serial or USB port ?
(the SPS jack look like a proprietary port)
Cheers,
Eric

Thanks Phil !
So that would be more precisely :
a Apple Din8 to PC Serial D9 Female Cable
Is that the one ?

You don't have to buy the vag-com lead.....

So SPS3 + Apple Din8 to PC Serial D9 Female Cable + Ross-tech VAG-COM software = fully functioning system.
Where could one purchase the apple lead ?
And can the system be used with a non-Revo'd car ?
Thanks in advance.

Just a light warning before you buy the full VAG-Com software at USD 99 and the Mac-PC serial cable.
Try the free limited version of the Vag-Com and install it on your notebook.
Then bring that and the SPS-3 switch to the computer store to test their Mac-PC serial cable before buying.
I just did that and it didn't work (ie. the SPS-3 switch didn't get recognized by the Vag-Com, just an "unknown device").
The cable dealer thought it might be because, although it's using a Din8 and a D9 plugs, the connections inside might be different and the cable would probably need to be bought from Revo direct.
A lesser issue was the shape of his Din8 plug case that was bulky and square and couldn't fit in at first into the SPS switch (need a thin and round plug).

not sure where Revo source theirs, but i know they cut the insulation back for it to fit into the sps device and make a connection.
try that Eric, but obviously means buying a lead to cut....

you also have to turn both switches to 0 to allow it to work. Works fine with my SPS1 also tried it with an SPS3 and worked.

Twisted Revo's arm and they gave me one. I know someone who got the mac cable and that didn't work, probably something to do with the wiring internals of the cable.

"it is important to mention that Vag-Com -from RossTech- can be used along with your SPS-3 device to 'dial' the settings your car like best"
What was meant by this was that VAG-COM can be using to monitor the likes of actual/requested boost, timing, AIT, etc, etc. thus allowing you to use the SPS 3 more effectively to set the most efficient settings!
