Spark Plugs

Post by Prawn » Mon Oct 13, 2003 8:57 am

Interested to know if S4 or RS4 owners are running with anything other than std once chipped.
I am looking at putting the RS4 intake parts on my S4 and I wonder if I need to go to a hotter plug to get the full benefit ?

It's a good point. AmD will be changing my plugs this week and I'll ask them if they feel the stock plugs are up to the job of my stage of tuning.

Don't forget that the RS4 service interval for plugs is much shorter than the S4 (I think it's actually every non-oil change service, i.e. 10-20,000 miles, as opposed the the S4's 40,000 miles). So clearly Audi feel that the RS4 engine is not 'plug-friendly'. Your car's engine is already similar to the RS4's in terms of stresses, so I think you are right to consider using plug of RS4 spec.
