Guys, got the chance to buy this kit in Australia, the guy wants $3000 AUD and claims they are $6000 AUD retail.
I believe this kit is indentical to the porsche 993 tt setup? Can anyone confirm?

Further, and most importantly, can you use a 993tt rotor with a movit caliper, and a 993tt caliper with a movit rotor? Ie, everything is the same and interchangable? it means the movit parts will be easy to get because I can get them from Porsche Australia... Please helP!

Is $3000 AUD a bit rich for the kit? I think $2000 is more in order

Appreicate your help!

The Movit kit uses 993 turbo discs(rotors) on bespoke Movit bells,Movit only sell these complete, they dont do bells and discs seperately as the complete assembly is trued and balanced as a unit.

As for the 993 calipers, you need to fit the LH caliper on the right and the RH caliper on the left, due to the differential bore pistons, you'll then need to move the bleed nipples to the top of the caliper and the bridge pipe to the bottom.
Also be careful,Movit do two kits(three if you count the new 342 mm kit)one with GT3 Monobloc Calipers, one with 993 turbo Calipers, but the discs and bells for both are the same.

To be honest, you're not going to save a whole pile unless you find secondhand calipers, would you no just give QSTuning in the UK a call and buy a complete Movit kit and save all the hassle?
The fit and quality of the Movit brakes is second to none in my experience and I've used brakes from all the big name suppliers.

I know how much the 993TT kit is, what I dont know how is how much the Movit kit is..

And, if they are the same..

Movits are(from memory) about 1500 sterling plus vat.
The kits are not the same, they differ in the brackets and the bells, the type of brakelines used and the afore mentioned method of trueing disc and bell together and only selling them as a complete assembly.

This kit has no lines, no pads and no fluid so to me, its the same as the 993TT Kit. Truing a bell to the rotor does not justify a $3000 AUD price hike.. Any old machinist can do that..

Thanks for the help but!

Definately dont want to buy from the UK, its far too expensive in taxes and freight. This kit is used, but its apparently perfect in every way so I'd much rather go with that then buy a set form the UK (we also have Movit Dealers in Australia)

Its the 993TT kit he sells, so I think ill just grab it... At least its easily serviceable with Porsche parts!

The Mov'it disks on Kim Colins RSĀ£ were not Porsche 993 disks. They were different to mine, which are Porsche.

I think the point to make here is that the Movit disc as supplied with the 993tt type caliper is 'NOT' manufactured as a 'Porsche' disc and vica versa but it is the same size and diameter (322mm/32mm). What may differ between the Movit kit and Porsche supplied discs with Bells is the Bell itself.

I heard that the AMD Porsche 993TT kit was technically a copy of the Movit design.

Yeah, but you can use a 993TT Rotor if the Movit rotors run out, right? That is using the Movit Bell also!

I wouldnt count on it.

The spacing and number of securing bolts could be different,as could the offset of the bells between either kit.

Will you not just go one way or the other?Either buy a Movit kit and use Movit discs when they wear,or buy an set of AMD brackets and bells,s/h Porsche Calipers, new Porsche discs and pads and do it that way.
Either option will be a hell of a lot better than those <beep> standard brakes Audi fitted.

Ill go the 2nd hand Movit kit if the local dealer can bring his stupidlty priced $3000 used kit down to a more sane $2000

If that fails, I'll get a new set of Porsche 993s from AmD
