Hi Everybody!

This is my first post, i have been browsing for many monthssince joning, thanks for a great site.

I have just changed my TTC for an S6 (2002 model), make room for the new faimily etc.

I want to fit a set of RS6 replicas but i'm not sure what tyre size they should be fitted with. I'm currently running the Avus alloys with 255/40 17, Rochford Tyres recommend 235/35 19 to maintain the rolling radius and speedo readings.

Will this change in tyre width from 255 to 235 have any adverse affects.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Andrew

A bit less grip, perhaps!

Seriously, I don't think a 235 width will work on the RS 6 19" wheel - the stock is 255/35R19 and that leaves the wheel sticking out far enough past the rubber to take the brunt of every kerb incident...

Take a look at this tyre size calculator and you'll get the following results;

Tyre code Diameter Circumference Difference
---------- -------- ------------- ----------
245/35 R18 629 mm 1976 mm -1.12 %
255/35 R18 636 mm 1998 mm -0.02 %
265/35 R18 643 mm 2020 mm 1.09 %
235/40 R18 645 mm 2026 mm 1.48 %
235/30 R19 624 mm 1960 mm -1.92 %
245/30 R19 630 mm 1979 mm -0.98 %
255/30 R19 636 mm 1998 mm -0.03 %
265/30 R19 642 mm 2017 mm 0.91 %
235/35 R19 647 mm 2033 mm 1.78 %

The lowest speedo errors are either a 255/35R18 or a 255/30R19. I know how hard a 255/35R19 rides, so be prepared for a 255/30R19 to be a bit of a tooth-rattler (hope the roads are good near you!).

Hope this helps.

Chris.

Thanks Chris,

The replica wheels are 8x19, i think the Audi wheels are 9x18.

I've seen them with 235 Toyo Proxes T1 tyres and the tyres offer some protection to the rim. Its about the same as the 255 on the Audi rims.

Fitting the 255 tyres adds another £400 to the price ao i don't know what 30 profile tyres will cost!!!

I'll have to think about this one.

Cheers

Andrew
