Question Time

Post by johneroberts » Wed Jan 22, 2003 7:04 pm

Just been on the phone to Kim Collins, and he has offered to answer any questions regarding any form of Tuning or Upgrading of Audi S&RS models, On a weekly basis he will visit the site and answer youre questions.
Cheers
jr

PS i would personally like to encourage other tuners if they wish to also contribute to this section, somthing we tried on many occasions on other websites, but never seemed to achieve.

Indeed. I'll have a word with some of my contacts. Would be a good opportunity for tuners to speak to each other also.

One big happy family.

Well this could open up a can of worms.
Different tuners speaking on this site on a weekly basis.
Can't see this working.

Tuner 1
My breaks are bigger than your breaks.
Tuner 2
You can't spell brakes.
Tuner 1
Shut up muppit.
Tuner 2
Muppet, see what I mean. He's a diesel head.
You don't want them working on your car.

This site is not a site for competitors in business to conduct their business on a competitive level.
The site moderator will have to keep a very close eye on the level of competitivness(is there such a word) on an unbiased basis.
May I suggest a yellow card and red card control system for when things get out of hand.

had to be yellow carl

what about blue and black flags?

In my experience when tuners do post on the same site they are actually very grown up and realise that bitching to about each other loses punters

so i reckon it will work quite well

I actually think each tuner has strong and weak points, if we can find them then dependant on each individuals requirements then they can get recommended to the tuner who meets their needs

lets hope it is as interesting as we hope it will be
Can't beat a bit of boost!

This should be fun and informative as most of us with modified motors know the answers, or have learnt the answers the hard way . Totally agree Carl BTW - this will have to be sensible questions with sensible answers,

A question?

What is the maximum reliable boost achievable (peak and retained) utilising a standard block, internals, ECU and injection, and what on the RS4 engine is the limiting factor?

Reckon an MTM458 wouldn't be so quick off the line if 1.45bar was their max boost Steve

Esp off mate, the point is MTM supposedly overboost 1.7bar, and this doesn't seem harmful to the engine - so how far, and for what duration can you go on higher boost?

from what i see at maximum boost pressure is in midrange then drops off at higher rpm;what all mtm chips do on the tt the max psi was in between 26psi to 30psi as long as the boost drops off to sensible level 5000rpm+ when the fuelling is at the most crictical, this method does not have any ill effects. Cool

So overboost, as long as the fuelling is adequate, is OK for say a 2000rpm range?

yes more boost/more fuel less heat more power/torque easier to compensate lower down rev range as higher up woild be a case of running out of injector,

again we come back to motec, larger injectors
