New additions

Post by johneroberts » Wed Jun 11, 2003 5:56 pm

Well as some of you know been having prolems with the clutch slipping and now after a week of have the MTM flywheel and paddle system installed, i can give you the low down on it, the old system lasted well and when it was taken out didnt look that bad at all considering that it had done 30,000 miles and numerous trackdays and other frivleous espcades. But having tried a system installed in Jons car at Gti International was sure it was right for me, the immeadiacy is sublime, and tourque is immense and i can whole heartedly recommend this to anyone considering changing there clutch soon, the only disavantage is that the fact you have to be Johnny Big Potatoes in the leg and foot department, and you need to give the car more revs so it engages correctly, but once mastered its fantastic.
It weighs exactly 1/2 a kilo lighter than the old systems and the car show signs of revving easier.
Also had a couple of other additions at the same time

I can't believe some dealership were charging £2K these seats. They are £325 each from Reccaro direct!

Check them out and others at http://www.recarodirect.co.uk/specialoffer.asp

And there is bugger all to fitting a seat although I suspect you might have to do something with the original seat air bag ECU?

What does you insurance say about removing the air bagged seat? I read somewhere a lad with Pug 306. had major grief from his insurance when he removed the air bag.

Feck me !! Sweet and serious seats or what ??!! Ibet they u nice and tight like a 24 stone woman squeezing u between her thighs !! (no i dont have any experience of that ok !)
Whats this paddle shifts ur referring to ? Tell me more plz or have u already posted details about them elsewhere?
So this MTM clutch is a wonder i gather, but is there one available for the S3 too ?

Make no mistake these are espically made by recaro for the RS4 in Kevlar and with alcantra and leather covers with RS4 embosed in the rear head rest section, they retail for £2K each, the one you are refering to are made from plastic or balsa wood
The seats are approved by the FIA and are extremely light, the undercarriage is exactly the same as the previous seat and just slides in place,(Dont think the Recaros for £325 do that) Anyway im pleased with them and seeing as they cost more than the Mercedes 230TE ive just sold its a bit of a joke The Rims Phil are winging there way to me as i write this and will have to be fettled with some rubber, im favoring the Sport Pilot II at the moment.
The Paddle clutch is nothing to do with paddles on the steering column, it means that the clutch is not a circular shape, more like four paddles, which when spining create the same effect as the normal clutch, but its make up makes it impossible for slippage.

Mo
Yes there is one available for the S3....

How do I know???

Cause I got one

As John says... Few more revs and it takes off a lot quicker. More of an instant response.

Give Kim Collins at QST a call. He will sort you out...
