GmbH vs other suspension setups

Post by DuncS3 » Mon Jan 20, 2003 5:45 pm

Chaps,

Why do you seem to go for the GmbH suspension setup, over something like Konis or H&Rs?
I think the general view is that Koni shocks and H&R springs is one of the better combos on say an S3 or TT, when compared to the GmbH kit...?

Of course this may be more to do with being able to set different damping/ride height depending on conditions only..

Dunc
the Gmbh system is in fact a Koni/eibach manufactured set so thats why, and Bushy and me had the H&R system fitted and didnt like it at all.

I read H&R's wehre the dogs for S4 so naturally went for them on the RS

No way

The bounce was aweful under noraml driving, different story on track, but that is only occasional driving

Now the GMBH is much more bearable for every day use and is as good as, if not better than the H&Rs on the track

IMHO
Can't beat a bit of boost!

You can get GmbH for the S3 -
20mm lower ride height and only rear dampers (no fronts for some reason)
I defenitely want to lower my ride height by 20mm, and improving handling would be nice, but I really dont want to compensate much on the ride quality..

John,

The GmbH kit is actually Sachs dampers and Eibach springs.
