ABT and the RS6

Post by DuncS3 » Wed Apr 30, 2003 9:08 am

Since Audi now warranty the fitment of an ABT chip to their flagship car, the RS6, I wondered what people think about this method? Obviously no Rolling Road is used which for example Thorney wouldnt go for but if its good enough for Audi to warranty...

yes I find this interesting too Dunc. doesn't exactly back up the 'Rolling road' is the best for tuning school of thinking.

Unless the RS6 engine management sys has extra protection mechanisms built in that other cars don't.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

ditto
why RS6 and not the others ? It could be that they are starting at the top , less RS6s to break !!
I think that I'd go for the Abt if it was approved, even though it costs more..... although I do think the generic chips are inherently less good than the custom mapped variety.......... no proof , just seems right !

Audi warranty covers MTM conversions too - they often sell MTM converted cars at dealerships. I looked at a 458bhp RS4 from a main dealer that came with a full warranty on the work as it had been carried out by Audi.

not officially by Audi UK though, thats just a dealer thing. Some dealers are working with REVO, and we all know Wayside are connected with AMD, but its not the same as the ABT deal...

Is this Audi UK, Audi GmBH or just the dealer?

Sorry, I've not been paying attention.

alledgedly Audi UK (maybe GmbH?) warranty and support ABT ECU remaps for the RS6

I'd want confirmation on that. The last time the TT guy asked Audi UK on it he got a resounding no - and the connection was very senior at Audi UK.

Dave has just had it done, hopefully he can say what he believes the situation to be? Delaer or full Audi UK warranty
