I fitted HEL brake lines to my B7 when the original ones were about 8 years old and was surprised I couldn't really tell any difference.

Is this the case even for new cars where the orignal rubber hoses have not started to deteriorate or perish? I always though new hoses were quite firm and only expanded under braking later in life or is it the case that a set of these will improve even on a brand new car?
