RS4 B7 Exhaust Mod?

Post by ATyson » Wed Sep 10, 2014 7:53 am

Looking to release some more noise from my b7. But i cant justify spending £1500 on an exhaust system. My friend owns a e92 m3 v8 and everyone seems to rave on about the backbox mod. Just wondered if something like this has been/can be done with the rs4 backboxes?

You can disconnect the valves so they are always open. Remember to plug the pipes.

Plenty of info on this of you have a search.

I've done this already. Didn't seem to make much of a difference
With the m3 i know they split open the backbox and remove a baffle of some sort surely something similar could be done with the rs4?

@The_Coat - WTF, you are slipping my man! Where's the FON's! :bigblink:

ATyson - FON!!!

Really, the only away to grab some more power from the RS4 exhaust wise is to get the pre-cat's gutted/deleted. The starvation really is before those back boxes. But you'll need a map for that to stop an CEL's.

RS4 + RS246.com = keeeeeerrrrching.

If your based anywhere near me go see the guys at ISC racing. They do custom exhausts and I have had two of them up to yet. A lot cheaper, better quality and a better sound.

Disconnect the valves as you have done so already and get the centre resonator replaced with a straight through pipe for very little money at any decent exhaust place. If this is still not noisy enough then you will need to play with the back boxes by either getting aftermarket ones or cutting open the standard ones and removing some of the baffle material. Pretty sure I saw some photos of someone doing this on here recently.
