S5 Exhaust advice

Hi,
Just bought an S5 last weekend. See http://www.ubergt.co.uk/used-cars/audi- ... 9494683215 (if the ad is still there). Got a good trade in price for my BMW 335D and I'm now soooooo pleased to have proper control with a n/a engine that revs to when I tell it to change gear through a manual gearbox. I have to say that although I know I'm in a V8, I was expecting more from the exhaust note.
What I'm looking for is something more throaty, especially as the revs build. I'm not too keen on exhausts with a rasping sound or something that booms all the time.
I'm a bit confused about what's out there and how that translates to what I want. I've ruled out non-resonating as that seems to mean LOUD. I don't know how cat back (which I think means just changing the part that runs from the rear of the cat to the tip) affects things. I also don't know what effect different tail pipes have or if that's just cosmetic. Would the ECU need a remap if I make any change? I've read about people talking about the number of cells in the cat, but I guess that's only relevant if it's not a cat back?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
An indication of cost would be useful too.
Cheers,
Bryan
