No info on their site yet, but can you get the Sportec treatment for proper cars, like the S3 for example ?

Do they do a chip for the S3?

I've chosen the Sportec chip for my RS4 but wasn't sure if they did chips for S3's TT's etc?

Thoney - is your chip coming through AMD?

The Sportec connection is pretty good. The chip is generic (a la MTM etc) then AMD fit it to the car and customise the map for the mods I have (Miltek and soon to be added sports cats).

The reason I wnt for Sportec is primarily their reputation with Audi AG - basically second to none and as I now know the rules on modifications in Switzerland are sooooo tough that all their products have to go through months and months of testing to be approved I figured it was the best pick (I'm pretty risk averse when it comes to my car ).

Always wanted the Sportec chip but was loathe to follwo Andyroos route and hack over to there to get it fitted, so when I heard AMD are bringing them in I leapt at the chance.

At the end of the day this is still mechanical work on my pride and joy and as such I wouldn't trust it to anyone unless I trusted them completely. AMD did my TTR before and have been nothing but exemplary in my treatment so the combination of them being behind the spanners, Sportec development and AMD's customisation route I reckon I'm onto a winner.

The downside is cost, it IS expensive but I'd rather blow £1200 odd on the right upgrade than £500 on something else to need remedial work in the future.

It wont be fitted for a few weeks so I'll update everyone here on progress post event.

Thorney, sorry for sounding thick but if AMD remap the Sportec chip, does this therefore mean that AMD have access to the Sportec code in order to tweak their settings for the best optimisation on your car?

Interesting comments regarding Swiss regulations - this sounds like a good product then. How do the Swiss regs compare to the German TUV regs I wonder.

Sorry mate, but have to ask....

So the fact that the chip will be 'tweaked', kinda voids all the months of testing.... No?

Correct, Audi Swiss only currently recognise Abt, but I understand that Sportec will be the next (although I've not heard when). I really rate the Abt stuff btw.

PhilT, I'm still waiting for full explanation but in essence only very minor tweaking is needed (if at all).

cant resist this but if no tweaking is required its a generic chip right?

My understanding is the only real areas that need tweaking to our engines are the fuelling at high rpm, this can be effected by which exhaust we have fitted

as std there is too much which could damage the engine

cheers

AMD can perform a Sportec remap on the S3, but it es mucho dinero.

Bit confusing you can get an AMD remap or a Sportec one - does that mean one is better than the other or has different chareteristics?
