RS4 Engine Pull Tools & Longer 5th/6th gear parts
Yep, cheers, I did the one large one at the back, three at the front, engine mount nut and two gearbox mount nuts ...smurfbus wrote:Did you remember to loosen up the rear subframe bolts too?
I am now thinking that it can't be any of the subframe bolts ... I mean, it must be something I have not tightened again, possible the snub mount?
One thing to note tho, the os engine mount, the nut was threaded I noticed last night, when we have put the engine in, the screw on the engine mount must have scraped past the subframe and flattened some of the threads, which means it threaded the nut as it passed over that. So, what I did was put a few washers in, so that it tightended before the nut got to the dodge thread. Make sense? ok, what I am trying to remember is if the nut had grooves on it(the washer end), ie, once its tight, it REALLY cant move ... now, I have replaced this with a normal nut and some flat washers ... my thinking is the washers might be slipping? even although it must be tight to about 60 NM.
IMO you only need to loosen the subframe bolts not the engine and trans bolt. anyway the engine mounts have a tap that fits in a hole. thats the only thing I focus on. it should fit the same hole as before. there are oddly several holes but usually it can be seen where it has been before. you can always leave the lower motor guard/pan/shield out so you can later check the bolts.
