A word of warning...if you go for H&R ARB's make sure the rear is set to the inner most hole (stiffest setting) - AMD set mine up wrong initially and the car failed its MOT last week as the drive shaft was rubbing on the ARB drop link !!

Changed it myself to the stiffer setting and have to say it does make a big difference in the handling...as Prawn said, I think the understeer is pretty much dialed out of my car now.

well i attempted to fit my H&R bars today - had the car up on axle stands, all set to change the rear but failed due to an Effing nut being virtually siezed holding the old bar to the droplink. This is probably the thread being too rusty/full of crap and me not finding my wire brush. Will try again soon when i change the brake fluid.

Phil, I'd be interested in the group buy for the KW setup. Was going to go with the H&R PCS, but being put off by the amount of members who are having to send the shocks back for repair/replacement :?

Anybody know the cost for the H&R ARB's???

Cheers,

Andy

Always nice to see a company who really knows what they are doing in their chosen profession.... Whats that you say Dave, going back for some engine work?

Sorry, if it sounds like I'm having a cheap dig, but for f**k sake, fitting an arb cant exactly be the next hardest thing to milking a bull, and to fit it in a manner that it can't even pass an MOT is less than pathetic in my book. What would/could of happened if it had been fitted from day one and the car not due an mot for another 3 yrs?

Car tuning shop possibly the next best money spinner to a plastic surgery clinic perhaps? Both seem to have the same moto - 'Tell them what they want to hear, then take there money'.

off rant....

ho, ho, ho,
ha, ha, ha,
and a couple of lardie dars,
thats the way we get things done,
in the merry old land of Oz.

Soz bud, it's not that I dont believe what your saying but the very fact that the car has a high C of G, 60/40 weight split towards the front with it's engine hanging over the front wheels like a sore lip and a 4wd system that wants to push you on under acceleration out corners, it will always have a tendency to want to understeer no matter how much you tweak the suspension components. Chassis flex is another big area that is to be considered also!

Certainly not saying that it all doesn't help with the problem it just that you'll never get rid of it.

Easy solution - Smoother driving!

Dave, if the driveshaft was rubbing the 'Plastic' droplink as much as it was on my old S4 after fitment then it is a wonder you got home without breaking down. I had to replace both droplinks at a price i'd rather not remember!

Think you can change your avatar in 'profile' just below the black bar across the top of this page. Got me confused the other week as I was trying to do it in 'my account'.

Dont change it , just resize it, it's pretty funny.

So who's gonna be man enough to buy the rs4 engine thats going in classfieds atm, rip out the rear seats and drop it in the back to make a double engined rs4?

That and a full roll cage to chassis will get rid of the old understeer i'll wager!!

I could also be interested in a group buy, am currently considering what to upgrade to from stock.

How much does the stasis setup cost?

Lets put it this way with the H&R ARB's, Control arms and Stasis Motorsports and pushing it hard on the track it is the back on mine that lets go first.

Right, but could that not also be caused by the fact that there is little weight over the back end of the car to start with and increasing the rigidity on the roll bar and suspension is actually causing the rear end to skate across the track rather than bedding in and taking grip?? I have seen it so many times before on cars with too hard a set up and wheels bouncing and skipping across the road, rather than being allowed to retain some movement on the components and settle the car into a corner.
