I would recommend MRC over others....
I had a "visit" the other day, did a S4 supposedly "superchipped" turned out to be totaly stock remapped, perfect. Not as rough/harsh as the Revos I have driven. The owner has splashed out and is now running on proper fuel !!
MRC also did a RS4 for me, that had as yet an unknown chip fitted, this responded well and am having very good feedback from the customer. Possibly saved his turbos from destuction too, which should make him happy.
My only grumble he failed to bring any beer with him......See you next week chaps!!

Excellent description matey. Goto agree custom mapping is the way to go, especially if the engine has been changed a great deal from standard setup. I have no idea how all the motronic works on my S2 but i know Mihnea knows it like the back of his hand now and has made a huge difference to the power and character of my car!

I have not got the time to read all of this I will soon.
I feel I need to give a commendation to every one of the MRC crew.
They are true Audi enthusiasts for many years built up personal experiences.
I understand they have entered the main stream business with one aim of being the first tuners in the country to offer products and service to the customers requirement and budget without excess nor arrogance.
We all know raw materials are not so expensive but experience and quality workmanship is prized.
I think these people know the business well and will be a brand of the future due to one major fact . Customer care and service in a true sense of the word
If you don't want your car and your budget cared for go else where.
This may seem crude but it is my opinion .
I have experienced custom and off the shelf all the names on the go and I know MRC are a totally different breed.
I will be returning to MRC at some point in the future.

Its all down to what you can afford IMO, if your out of MTM league and cant get your head around the money, then you look at other options and value for money, and up and coming tuners have to price acordingly. Their overheads are far less and i would imagine the original research and development has in many instances been begged borrowed and stolen over the years, where as the originators would spent an aweful lot of man hours and technolgy investment to get the results they get. MRC im sure will be successful, especially after so many people have voiced there support. Lets hope they can earn some decent money out of it and start to advertise on RS246 and give somthing back to the guys who care.
Cheers

@johneroberts: we never had any intentions of using RS246 to our gains, if people are happy with our work and post about us here, you can't suggest that we are promoting ourselves. We have only been offering technical guidance where others can't/don't want to/don't have the time to.

We have already contacted PhilT in order to pay him a cheque even before our new website is up and running, so we are not seen as free advertisers on this forum. One of our company's directors is in touch with your crew regarding this at present, I believe, while Lee and myself are on business on the continent.

Mr Roberts,
Your approach to a future sponsor of this site could have been put better!

Regarding the other comment in your post
So does expensive mean the the best? value for money springs to mind.
When does the old "large overheads" excuse become greed?

Fine if you have more money than sense...

OK. So the fact I locked the thread seems to have upset some people. First I will summarise the thread:

- After a discussion with Tom Coppings, Shagga started the thread to get feedback on MRC maps on an S4 (2.7 biturbo, I assume) - No issue here

- Tom explained further that the price quoted was for a 'generic type chip' and that a custom chip would be more expensive - I posted a link to our advertising policy http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=48072

- Tom's recent post regarding AmD which at the time was considered to be libellous without factual support and removed, caused us to be concerned when married up with Tom's relationship with MRC - We have to protect ourselves here. At the bottom of each page is this statement "All logos and trademarks in this site are property of their respective owners. The comments are property of their posters, all the rest (c) 2002-2005 by AutoWebMedia". We reserve the right to take action to protect ourselves.

- There has been a lot of positive feedback of MRC's work on S2 & RS2. Mihnea allegedly owns an S4 - This is good feedback on the work done by MRC, but the initial context was for an S4.

- Then we had a whole discussion on the definition of a 'custom' map - It is apparent that there is a variation on the use of the term 'custom', see here for the dictionary description http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=custom

- A post from another MRC distributor that seemed to suggest that a Superchip is a stock chip, Revo software is rough/harsh, and that a.n.other chip was going to cause turbo failure, but the MRC map would not - I hope you can see the implications of this.

So to answer Shagga's question - MRC have a good reputation as Audi enthusiasts and have established themselves in the S2/RS2 tuning market. As yet we have no feedback from an S4 owner with an MRC map, but understand that Mihnea runs an S4. There are many options for the 2.7 S4, MRC offer both a generic map (circa £600) and custom/emulator based mapping at extra cost.

Now on to the point of the 'RS246 Crew':

- RS246 values accurate technical input as long at it is does not threaten RS246's reputation

- RS246 has over 3000 registered members at this stage, and almost 2.5 million hits per month. There are a number of us who dedicate our spare time to ensure that the site is up and running, pull in favours, invest financially, and all this means that we need to enforce a policy that strives towards financially a self sufficient entity

- RS246 must protect its sponsors' investment in the site, by ensuring where possible that we act in a way that is fair to all

- RS246's best asset is its Users, and Associated Content - We are grateful for the way this site is perceived and the value content to it's users.

- The RS246 Crew are here as users. We have the same passions as you, but we also have the responsibility to protect RS246. So even though we are 'Crew', we should be regarded as users like everyone else

- If there are issues with the site, then please use this forum http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... forum&f=13

- If you have concerns that are not for public viewing, then please email us at crew@rs246.com

I would second that. I prize healthy debate with those with technical knowledge. It is a shame few actually input to the forums. I hope we see no more threads locked in this fashion.
Going off topic is often half the fun on occasion and many previous threads have done that without being locked.

The statement of "I'm bored" related to the way we have to monitor activity due to the inconsideration for the people who use and run the site. I made my points clear, as the is the purpose of this thread.

So, does anyone have a 2.7 S4 tuned by MRC that they are willing to comment on?

Yes thanks............
My own S4 MRC re-mapped during a recent visit is greatly improved, certainly much more power in the upper rev range. I noted the block values nm meter reading on my scanner before and after to quantify the improvment. I am not one for pub stats, regarding claimed hp. I prefer to go by the above method or the preferd "seat ot the pants" test.

When checking the ECU prior to mapping it was found to have a standard map contained in the ecu. The previous owner (Family member) has a large bill from Superchip dealer for a re-map. This clearly was not installed and is being taken up with the supplier of the superchip.

I have had many other re-mapped cars pass though here, one revo chipped S4 occationaly developed a misfire at 4000rpm, it felt very harsh in comparison. It has been back for some remedial work from the revo dealer.

Would be good to also get a view from the RS4 owners who have a minhea re-map - I know there are at least two. I am sure this number will grow.
