Downpipes and straight through exhausts
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Downpipes and straight through exhausts
I think you need to here flashyg's twin box system then.
Not sure how many boxes Leon is running but I don't remember it being that loud at Santa Pod.

Viper - that pic looks like a "3 single Milltek. I've just taken one of those off and put a Milltek Dual system on - produced a very noticable improvement in flow and the car just flies now, seems to "breathe" so much easier, turbo's spool up great and the power is instant. Sounds ace too ... (but I also have the Milltek totally de-catted d/p's)

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Downpipes and straight through exhausts
Just realised there when you said that S4TAN that I have the milltek downpipes, so no idea what I was banging on about RS4 stock downpipes before! LOL!
So if thats a 3" milltek sysem I should have 3" downpipes already???

Nope, the Milltek downpipes are much the same diameter as the RS4 ones. Maybe a little larger but not much

Don't think so dude - the 3" I was referring to was the cat-back exhaust system in your previous pic. I think the d/p's you've got there are the 2.37" jobbies ...

D/P's needed as well then ... right, back to selling everything I have to pay for them!
Anyone wanna buy my downpipes and exhaust if I go ahead?
, oh, the cats are empty.

The exhaust can't be too restrictive if the car makes 551bhp.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Downpipes and straight through exhau
Thats true, but Doug thinks it is, or at least I can do better ... so, that being the case, and because of how much I am flowing now I might get a little more out of it!DavidT wrote:The exhaust can't be too restrictive if the car makes 551bhp.
Thing is, I am very happy with this exhaust, the sound is perfect, not too loud, not to quite. Good around town and gets good comments when passing folk on WOT. So just hope I can match that in the next setup!
I have just invested in a Meth/Water injection kit as well to try and drop the EGT's and intake temps ...

Any dual system will be louder than the 3" systemviperbl wrote: Thing is, I am very happy with this exhaust, the sound is perfect, not too loud, not to quite. Good around town and gets good comments when passing folk on WOT. So just hope I can match that in the next setup!

Is the Duel system not 3" anyway? Just Duel more of the way along as opposed to going to a single pipe ?MarkB wrote:Any dual system will be louder than the 3" systemviperbl wrote: Thing is, I am very happy with this exhaust, the sound is perfect, not too loud, not to quite. I understand its going to be louder, and I can live with that, just no as loud as Doug's for example, I feel for a daily driver that could be too much...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Downpipes and straight through e
The larger pipe lets more noise out itself and leaves less space for noise dampening in the boxes.

The Milltek dual has 2.25" diameter pipes - only fractionally louder than the 3" single - but flows loads more and sounds throatier...Is the Duel system not 3" anyway?
