Hey Reno,
Stock RS4 feels fast in a progressive sort of way. No real lag to mention, and constant acceleration thru all gears thru the whole reve range 3000rpm to 7000rpm.
Modified, be it MTM, AmD or Sportec (MTM and AmD the only real RS4 tuners in the UK at the moment) the feeling with 450 to 475bhp is somewhat different for me.
Firstly it does feel to me like I run out of gears a lot quicker, reaching 60mph (100kph) in supposedly 4.1 seconds. I haven't tried it as I like my gearbox but thats what the road tests on RS460 indicate (and I've got 475bhp ).
The acceleration does feel less progressive and more violent (see the torque curves), especially in 2nd gear, but it is still power you can reliably use (or not) in every day traffic.
All in all I like the Sportec torque curve for me, it gives me all the extra power throughout all the rev range, although for trackdays (especially shorter circuits) I would prefer the MTM (hello John ) as it give a hell of a lot of boost and torque low down so you can really power out of the slow corners.
The compromise to me is an MTM initial peak torque, carried flat to 6800rpm, in the shape of the standard RS4 curve - best of everything, and that's what I'm striving for. Wish me luck
