Good idea! :)
looks nice without the hole! did you look how high it could go then, no room for raising?

Thanks Paul.

Oli, we fiddled around with the rear box mountings and moved the tailpipes to a position whereby they were free to move into their "natural" position, but there was no inclination for it to sit any higher. To achieve that would therefore require bending of the mountings to force it into position, which I'm not keen on.

The filling in of the hole was Shineydave's brainstorm. I dont know if it's evident from the photos, but we simply used black tape to see how it would look.

So the intention is to fill the hole, repaint, and just leave a small recess, so that it looks as though it should always have been like that!

Hi Clive ... it looks better filled in ..... be much better reprofiled rear valance and get the box up snug to it, no different on chassis so for it sitting low must be a fitting issue ...? saying that though, my rs4 d/pipes are lower, probably due to them being round, or rotten e/mounts !! but nice to see that keeping the OEM system in my lock up is a wise venture....
bend the mounts mate ... do it ... get the results you were first after..... :audibash: IMHO

thats cool mate :) i did exactly the same thing on my merc, didnt want to cut my bumper at the back so got it snugly fitting up to the bumper! could only just tell it was black tape !! are you going to fibreglass the black bumper insert then fill and paint? i dont know about the facelift bumpers :)
did you manage to do a fats time at all??? i havent really as i still have boost leaks.

we looked at bending the exhaust mounts but felt that would give clearance issues and in anycase if we raised the exhaust then the cut-out is too small and would require chopping out. the plan is to fashion a mesh filler to go in the cut-out then fill with fibreglass mat and then a final skim of filler to finish it off
