Milltek
...And this was the 'up and down' curve that caused me to query: The fact is I'm not a technician and he lost me very early on when he gave me the explaination. F*ck knows where I got Haldex from, he clearly wouldn't have said that.

RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Sure thing - come over anytime, or can meet you somewhere. Just had an offer on the house at bloody last, so aim to be out in six weeks or so...
Ah... A roads...
Haldex?? He did say it. So there. But obviously a slip of the tongue from a junior chap.
Just spoke to Adam at AMD who has cleared things up. In summary "Sorry, what xxx (a TT owner - Haldex?) MEANT to say was it's to do with the shift of power from one set of rollers to the other, imagine a line drawn through the middle of the peaks to get a realistic 'on the road result'"
Or something like that. Who cares, it goes like stink.

Assuming RS4 stage III is chip, cat back and downpipes?
Wavyness in a dyno plot like that usually indicates traction problems. What RPM range does the picture cover?
Torque and RPM plots should cross at 5250 RPM IIRC.

Only if both are being drawn on the same scale and you are measuring SAE bhp and ft lbs of torque.KayGee wrote:

Most graphs showing power and torque are drawn with separate scales for the two values.
In theory, in a metric world, torque should be expressed in Newton metres and power in kilo Watts. In this case they will "cross' at an entirely different value. I refer to the prior paragraph, there is no 'should'.
R+C
Stage III as described, yup.
traction problems?
I wish I'd never started this...
Also, what do you mean by 'crossing' at 5250 rpm? no plots are crossing here...
(tried to post grapgh again but no joy 'cannot find server') Anyway rev range of 'wavy' bit is 3500 rpm to 5500 rpm
Explaination in PlaySkool language much appreciated, I've just spent 3 grand on this. As I said the car goes brilliantly, but if there was any underlying problems I'd like to know.
By the way Adam did say that if anyone, customer or not, wanted to speak with him about any tuning issue to give him a call.
Thanks in advance.

Apologies for using an unqualified "should"...my mistake.
Since the figures are BHP and Ft/Lbs, I'd expect to see them cross at 5250 RPM, I didn't think about the graphs being scaled. Had a look at some other AMD graphs and they all show the same layout, assuming they are scaled.
Looking at the graphs there isn't anything wrong.
The traction issue is simple and nothing to worry about. It indicates the tyres were loosing grip on one roller, at which point the torsen diff would transfer power to the wheels still making grip, resulting in the undulations in the torque curve.
Nice fat and flat curves showing a good spread of power throughout the rev range
, I can see why you like it!

if you trace the bhp curve onto the torque curve I presume where thay cross is circa 5250 rpm?
