I want black calipers, but AMD are telling me that they will cost at least £100 + VAT over the cost of red calipers. When I had my red calipers fitted they (at the time) offered me the choice of red or black, with no mention of any extra cost. Why should you pay more for black?

Porsche calipers in black cost no more than red ones.
If you want prices for the calipers try www.carnewal.com (try emailing Gert and say I sent you )

He will be able to source the porker parts, but I doubt he'd be able to get the disks, unless you can provide him with details of who makes them.

Cheers,
John.
P.S. Gert is in Belgium, and is generally a lot cheaper than any of the uk parts places. He can also do good prices on H&R kits.

Cheers John. I think the problem is that all the parts are genuine Porsche but AMD have a special mounting bracket which you can only get via them.

I am not sure what to do, as AMD have told me twice last week (in email and on phone to Craig) that I would have to pay extra for Black calipers, which from what I am being told and from what AMD told me previously doesnt seem to be the case.

Dunc,

it does sound like they are trying it on if you are getting conflicting stories.
Of course it could be that they have brought a load of big reds at a good price and so can pass this saving on, but can't for the black ones.

I would mail Gert anyway to find out the prices from him.
This will give you confirmation of actual costs of the calipers. I'd also suggest ringing up AFN and asking for prices of a pair of front 'big reds' for a 993Turbo4, just so you have a uk main dealer price to compare to.
There is also a place in Liverpool (I think) that do good prices on porker parts.

I feel sure that if there is a big price saving to be made here, someone like Tanoga or Alan (who I believe also has a metal bashing business ) could knock up a couple of carriers out of suitable material for you, especially given that they would then be able to market/sell these to other owners in the future

It just depends on if you are prepared to go to all this trouble to save a bit of money.

Cheers,
John.

I think it must be YTS day at AFN in terms of part technicians

Probs easiest to buy Mogs old set from AMD and put up with the bling bling red calipers
