I agree with that John !!!!!

Plus on the Diablo..... I wish it was mine, even if it is a kit. The Company (Parrallel Designs) are the guys behind this and many other replica Diablo cars. I've got to say this is one of the better kits in the Kit Car Industry, it really is spot on and so it should be as the cars chassis and body are copied directly from a true diablo plus the amount of investment the owner has put in, in getting these kits right . This is the next car being built (GTR)

of which only 80 were ever made by Lambo... I got to have a blast (with out doors ), and boy does it rocket, truely is a well set up car. The owner of this build is spending 3k a piece on carbon doors!!!!!!!!!!

Nearly there Tom. You have the correct link, but you must click on the image 'Instant UBB code' link and add the URL to that. Hope it helps
Lovely car though. The kit would have fooled me.

I've got to ask...

If the doors are 3k each, how much is the whole thing ?!?!?
And what engine does it have in it ?
I have been told of a few 355 replicas that now have genuine 355 engines in them (brought from Douglas Valley breakers) so wondered what these replicas use.

I also assume these are built to order, rather than being available as an actual kit for punters to put together, right ?

Cheers,
John. (planning my next kit car which will hopefully be either a GTD40 or an Ultima )

John - I think the Ultima is the way to go. One helluva car .

paul,

what type of file is that ?
I must be missing a plug-in as I can't view it.

Indeed the Ultima is a superb piece of kit. I'm drawn to the GTD40 though for its historic links. Trouble is the best performance can be gotten from a Chevy engine, and a Chevy in a GT40 just doesn't sound quite right to me

Still a way off just yet though, so I'll keep on dreaming for now

I think it was done in 'Quick Time', but you should be able to use any viewer.
I edit a lot of home movies so I have loads of different codecs.

Hi John,

The heart of the Silver Diablo is a tuned Rover V8, the GTR has a BMW 7 series engine, the owner is looking to change to a M series engine I beleive. The doors arent usually 3K each, its just the owner of this build wants Carbon!!
You can buy this as a kit at about 35k or Parrallel will build it for you for around the 50k mark.
Those 355's are based on a MR2 as a donor, I havent as yet heard about a company or a private owner dropping a real 355 engine in, so if you know of anyone who has, it would be of interest to my magazine and its readers.

On the Ultima and GTD40, both very good cars, my money would go on the GT40 personally, there is an agaent setting up in the UK for the South African company CAV, who also make a avery good replica of the GT40, and GTD have now gone back to the original owners. There was a GT40 meet at goodwood yesterday, and we did have a journalist there, I will try and find out more for you if you like.

Thanks.
Rover engines are very common and easily tunable, eh.
Never heard of a 7 series engine as a donor before though...
As for the doors, I guessed as much

Hmm, not a bad price I suppose.

Which mag do you work for ?
Not partof chp by any chance ?
I heard of the first 355 while talking to a guy at a track day at goodwood in a genuine 355 last year. He posts on pistonheads and mentioned someone on there had done his. Interestingly a friends brother writes computer gaming software and had mentioned the same car to my mate. I'll see what I can find out. btw I don't think it is dropped into a fiero or mr2 based car, but having not seen it or spoken with the owner I don't really know.
The other one was a car I saw at Bentwaters while doing a driver training day earlier this year. Some old guy pulled up to the airport cafe in what I thought was a genuine 355. The chaps with me pointed out that it had mr2 interior though
Owner didn't want to talk to us (4 guys - 3 in porsches, one in an rs2).
It definitely was not the standard mr 2 engine in it though.

On the Ultima and GTD40, both very good cars, my money would go on the GT40 personally, there is an agent setting up in the UK for the South African company CAV, who also make a very good replica of the GT40, and GTD have now gone back to the original owners.

Really ?
Last time I spoke with them they had relocated up north from the south coast. There was talk of them stopping selling kits, but demand was still too strong.
So are they back down here, or have they just stayed in their new premises ?

oh dear.....
There goes the concentration for the rest of the day !

I have approval from the wife for either when funds allow
She prefers the GT40, as do I. Its easier/cheaper to get more power out of a chevy engine though, and the Ultima will undoubtedly handle better being lighter and having a more modern suspension design.

I'd really like one of the GT40s made by the company in the states (I forget their name) but they trully are out of my price range

Sorry people, this has got waaaaay off topic now, so I better stop there. Tombs if you make it to the meet next week we'll have to have a chat

Cheers,
John.
