New FMIC for A4 (1.8tq)

Post by jc.. » Tue Jan 31, 2006 8:29 pm

I bought a 1.8t A4 Avant Quattro about 6 months ago and was struggling to find an FMIC.

I tried all sorts of companies for aftermarket and custom front mounted items and stumbled across a golden opportunity.

Apparently Forge had been looking for a development car (A4 1.8t) for years.
Anyway, long story short, after three weeks holiday overseas I have just picked up the car with a brand new custom FMIC, dump valve, all pipe work and trimmings fitted by them. This in return for the use of my car for to develop a new kit.

Have to say I think I got the better end of the deal as it is a cracking job. The guys at Forge were fantastic, the car was spotless when I picked it up and they have thrown in all sorts of goodies.

This is one of many things I have/will be changing as part of a BT conversion and I was not expecting it to make much difference by itself.
It holds onto power much longer than before and I am pretty sure it is using less fuel.
I always got between 29-31mpg doing 80mph on the flat (test track of course  ).
Now it does the same speed and the gauge is reading anywhere between 30-33mpg.

DV sorted a slight problem I was having with the OEM one, the i/c itself is a very nice peice of kit and I would thoroughly recommend them for fitting and products.

Can't wait to get the rest of the bits and finish the conversion.
So far I got a turbo back milltek system for £110 on Ebay and a dump valve and custom I/C fitted for free!
Well on track for completing the rest of the IHI conversion for less than £2k.
