Links for tuning for mortal people

Post by dakid » Wed Apr 20, 2005 9:20 pm

Hiya,

Found this forum using Google and it seems that you guys all have uber-cars ... S and RS models. I was wondering if any of you could please recommend forums / URLs where I could find out more about tuning for us lesser mortals who just have standard A models. I'm just about to buy a 99T A6 1.8T SE and was trying to find more info about the Superchips chip that apparently boosts power by 20% and torque by 25%, like reliability and any other comments about how else I can tune the car.

Many thanks in advance for any help and/or links posted! :D

Martin

Martin there are lots of tuners on the market, if you run a few searches for tuners and chip companies there are alot more possiblities than just superchips.

1.8T is a very tunable engine. Lots of people who can supply cheap tuning options. However you have to remember the golden rule.

cheap, reliable, fast.

Any two out of the three is easy.

That's not exactly a big increase, only 30BHP where all others get more than 40BHP depending on the year (later ones can get upto 210+).

Bear in mind that the 1.8T is used accross the range, including other VAG cars like the Golf so you can apply the same theory to your A6.

I had AmD tune my 1.8T A3 and it is still going without issue 4 years later (passed it down to my brother). They now do their One Click for the 1.8T so helps you switch back to standard if you like. Have a read about for this info.

All the best,

Ben
