BMC air filter?

Post by borice » Mon Jun 14, 2004 9:53 am

Anyone got this installed? Would recommend or not?

Link: Check out the Warning note

I'm mostly interested in street usage (ad-hoc racing :) ), not track.
I currently have the K/N flat washable air filter...

I have heard that it works but you have to shield that air mass meter or you actualy will drop power.

Got one on my S3, also have friends who got it on S3/TT/S4TT. Works quite well in midrange rev and high rev engine goes up easier. Increase noise also, especially if you don t duct it to the air intake. No problem with air mass meter. Usually pb with air mass meter comes also with panel filter like K&N when they re oiled too much, it create a deposit on the amm which fools it. For now I got it from friend who drove it for some time before crashing his S3, I got his amm with the BMC and works ok. I cleaned the filter once just with air, no problem. Also other people I know haven t reported problems with the BMC CDA.
My car was 231PS and 320Nm on the sportec rolling road before chipping, with BMC and milltek exhaust on.

If you re sucking air in the engine bay chances are you ll get performance loss, as with conical filters
