Directions for Steering Wheel change with AIR BAG (RS4)

Post by Joules » Fri Jun 04, 2004 7:40 pm

Help needed, I have bought an Alacantra Steering Wheel and will need to swap units and add air bag from my current S Wheel.

I have been given the following but just want to check. Those in the know could perhaps check and confirm the following-

remove battery negative terminal
remove the screws on the rear of the wheel
lift the air bag assembly away and disconnect the wires (do not drop! and ensure you keep it the correct way up)
undo the centre nut I fitted a new one for safety
swap the wheels and fit new centre nut
reconnect the wires
replace the air bag in its position and refit the screws (again i used new ones for safety)

Thanks,

Joules

Now the important bit switch on the ignition then connect the battery (no one should be in the vehicle when you do this just in case .!!
the new screws and centre bolt are cheap and is the audi recommended way to do it

That seems to be the way I did mine Joules when I fitted some control wires. Didn't go off in my face anyhow
