RS4 clutch upgrade?

Post by borice » Thu Jun 03, 2004 8:07 pm

I think time has come for a new clutch since the current one seems like it starts slipping... is there another alternative to the stock clutch setup that would be more efficient to use?

Thanks for any info.

MTM clutch with lightened flywheel (Tanoga) has been proven to be the best by far on a modded car - it took me three other ruined modified clutches to realise this for myself.

Thanks for the fast response.
Do you happen to know where I could buy the lightened Tanoga flywheel from?

Thanks again.

Have PM'd Tanoga but with no response yet.

However I did receive a response from MTM. They say that they have a complete kit for RS4 that includes a single-mass flywheel (own make; steel), stronger pressure plate and stronger clutch disc for 1710 euros incl. VAT.

They also claim that they have not heard or experienced any rattling (metalic) noise at low rpm. I've asked them if their flywheel is lighter than stock and am waiting for their response. I'm assuming it is, in which case it's impressive that their setup doesn't experience the unpleasant noise others have experienced with a lightened flywheel.

What do you guys think? Is it worth the upgrade? or go stock...

Thanks.

I found out the weight of the MTM flywheel - 10.6 kg
The stock flywheel is 12.8 kg and the Tanoga one is half that, 6.4 kg.

The thing is that MTM claims that there is no unusual noise because of their lightened flywheel.
