OBD2 Cable Help Please

I have just purchased an OBD2 cable from Ebay only to find that it doesn't have the OBD2 connector block attached. Currently the cable consists of the rs232 9 pin connector, a black box ( think this is the voltage converter ) and then from this box is a cable that terminates as four wires ( grey, yellow, brown, pink) with pins attached. Can I buy the OBD connector seperately and how will I know which wire is to go to which pin on the OBD connector. Any help would be most appreciated as I thought I was buying the complete interface cable so an rather :evil:
