Someone with Porsche Brakes on their S3 help :(

Post by s8n » Tue Mar 30, 2004 11:28 am

The saga contuines.. I had ordered the Porsche Adapter kit from RPI Equipped in Canada last week. Its taken them 6days to tell me this

Despite the fact that we had a Big Red kit on our own TT - apparently we have hats and no brackets.

The Brackets are 2mm thinner than MK4 brackets.

I am taking a set to the machine shop tonight.

I don't know why he is telling me about MK4 brackets, but correct me if im wrong the 225HP Quattro TT brackets are IDENITCAL to that of the 225HP Quattro S3? So, because they only recieve the TT in the US, I just tell him I want a 225HP TT conversion kit right?

The kit includes bolts, adapters, rotor hats, stainless lines and its a great price, but now Ive already paid and he's off doing some machining??

What I want to know is how thick are the Brackets for the TT?????

Paid $502AUD, 6 days later and still no conversion kit!! Even paid extra for 3 days Fedex Shipping. These RPI guys are complete MUPPETS!!

Someone help PLEEEEASSEEE

ask them why they think there is a difference!! the stub carrier at the bottom where the bracket fastens to is the same on the S3/TT/Golf 4motion and others..

of course, if they have used different sized bells, then this may necessitate some reengineering of the custom brackets as the brackets are made to suit the bell offset IIRC.

Well, they claim its only the brackets that require modification, when they open I will call them and tell them just to send me TT Quattro ones... No idea what the hell they are doing, although I do know they are TOTALLY clueless...

My advice, never ever order anything from them. Unless you require it in the next century

Thanks for your help mate, appriecated

My reading of the text you quote in your original message is that they have kits in stock for the Mk 4 (Golf?) but the TT needs thinner brackets than the Mk 4. Despite the fact that they have a set on their own TT, they don't have any brackets for the TT in stock, so they will machine the Mk 4 brackets to suit.

peterb, that is 100% correct. I called them last night and discussed it, apparently apart from their own TT car which had the kit, they have not sold a conversion kit since releasing the product for the TT, only for MK4 Golfs.

Dustan explained last night that the parts were getting machined so today they should be sent. He said he would send me a cheque included in the parcel which had the freight charge, $60USD. Said, he wouldnt charge me that as he couldnt provide the 3 days shipping time he explained before and that I paid for.

So, as long as it leaves today, Im pretty happy I guess. Free 3 day Fedex freight! Heres hoping they fit ;)
