Pro-Blend Extreme Sport Fuel

Post by david7m » Thu Jan 29, 2004 9:51 pm

Has anyone tried this?

I just brought some and was told that a 16oz bottle will mix 3 tanks, took the assistants word for it and thought I would give it ago. Got back home and have found it mixes about 35 litres !!!!!

It says on the bottle that it increases octane by 7 -14 points, and can increase by upto 30 bhp with an increase in boost pressure.

Have been told it's like paint stripper and can peel the skin of your hands, but not sure if he meant literally.

Will this damage my engine? Mixing with Optimax could result in some seriously potent street fuel. I presume the ECU will have to learn the increased octane rating? If so, I hope its quick at learning, because it'll be gone after about 200 miles !

No damage to the engine as 100 points = 1 octane

10 points is 1 Octane number. 14 points is pretty good for a octane booster. Other octane boosters only raise by about 7 points ie from 98 to 98.7 if running optimax.

from Millers Oils website
User Benefits
* Enhances performance by increasing octane values typically by 1.6.
* Reduces pinking and possibility of pre-ignition and detonation by controlling the flame front [manner in which the fuel burns].
* Improves fuel consumption and gives smoother running.
* 95 premium unleaded becomes equivalent of 97 super plus unleaded.
* 97 super plus unleaded typically increases to 99 octane.
* Reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides [NOx] and Carbon Monoxide [CO].

I know it's only nit picking but Optimax on it's own is 98.6

I've seen the toluene article before. Can it be bought in the UK ? much of this stuff is often only available in the uk. I'm certainly not convinced that it is harmless - never worth taking a chance.

Yes it can from any good industrial paint supplier. No it's not harmless, but follow the handling instructions on the Coshh sheets provided and you'll be OK.
Works out about £1 a litre, but 5 litres in a 50 litre tank ups the octane rating by 2 full points. Optimax is 80p/litre, so it only costs a £ a tank.

Big warning on the acompanying reciept that says. Duty free Not to be used as a fuel or fuel extender. Oops!
