Toyo Proxes T1-S are the best dry grip / wet grip / value tyres for the B5 S4 IMO
Go here and I have got them for £100 fitted before.

I fancy some Yoko Prada spec II's - they look way cool & seem pretty well rated too. A bit steep cost wise though.

Re: Whats the best tyre?
i've just had 2 michelin pilot sport 2's fitted for £105 plus vat each, but i'm a bit concerened that one front tyre was ok ish on the outer part of the tyre, but the center was as bald as a coot, but the other front one had about 3-4mm tread left all over the tyre.. i read on another thread a while back about this and it said i could bugger up my diff if i only changed one tyre at a time.. so with one bald tyre, and one good one, isn't that the same thing? please tell me i havn't done any damage... Re: Whats the best tyre?
though in theory a difference in rolling radius would cause the diff to wind up, the difference on yours isn't a great deal to worry about - I'd worry more about your tread wear

Re: Whats the best tyre?
praise the lord!! the bloke who fitted them said if when i pull away the steering wheel judders or the car whines then i've got a problem.. but i havn't noticed those symptoms so i think i'll be ok!! i reckon the bloke who had it before me might have had a puncture because the spare wheel is dirty but a new tyre on it.. Only just saw this thread - but I got four Goodyear GSD3 F1's (205/45 R17) about a month ago from Micheldever nr Winchester in Hampshire (www.micheldever.co.uk). I paid £ 420 incl fitting, 4 wheel alingment & VAT.
The tyres are very good in the dry and the wet.
