Yes, s4sh, I agree that would be what I'd like. Somebody should give 'em a ring to find out. On bloody ice and snow like this morning, you could argue that it is a positive advantage to have a standard bhp output.

Look Familiar?
Take a look at http://www.milfordmicros.co.uk/home/default.asp, you may find it interesting
Re: AMD launches "one-click" serial port tuning
dongle is only to switch programs . It flashes the ecu. Yo do not need it plugged in to run car.
you can have a generic map, no visit to AmD required, or a custom RR map loaded onto the one click device.

John, Milford systems is Geoff from AMD's company IIRC.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

So you can put a custom map onto it. Thats perfect!
BlackShadow, i know exactly what your saying about the upcoming weather. My main concern is my wife. She has commented that the power od the s4 has caught her out before. Mainly in the low revs just over 1800rpm, put your foot down, there is a big whoosh of power (the turbos kicking in), she is still not fully used to it.

I believe geoff sold AMD last year, and works as a consultant for them and others. Just trying to point out that it aint their technology, and that they are one of 2 current distributors for it.
I'm not knocking the product though!
Re: AMD launches "one-click" serial port tuning
My thoughts on the AMD one click:
1) No longer will people complain about being chipped in pub car parks etc (remember these arguments we used to have?) AMD alledgedly will also deliver this map to you through the post. The only problem I can conceive with this is that APR and REVO need to see your car first, so they can check for errors etc before chipping.
2) With Revo, a dealer could use their device, plug it into your car and with the benefit of a quick test drive find out your car is chipped. With the AMD solution, if a dealer did this, they woudl be effectively chipping your car - so you are really undetectable at that level. i would imagine they are all detectable to some extent, if Bosch had your ECU I would guess they could detect that something had been uploaded.
I have also heard rumours that the AMD One click can download a chipped map instead of standard map, so you could switch between different chips - that would be neat.
It remains to be seen if AMD will deliver adjustable maps, via software, ala APR and REVO
One thing is for sure, serial port tuning is the way to go

yes I agree also - let's hope that Bosch don't make it too restrictive on their future chips so that this won't be possible.
Shame really that AMD don't also have the flexibility of playing with boost/timing but they have a great feature with the original code reflash.

Re: AMD launches "one-click" serial port tuning
How much does it cost to get an RS4 chipped anyway? How far can you go with just a chip?
Have a look at the AmD and QS Tuning sites.
its around £1k from AmD for 420bhp, or £1k5 from QST for an MTM Stage 1 (also 420bhp).
Cheers,
John.

This is NOT what Revo told me. Each car requires its own dongle, or a "virgin" one from Revo in order to operate the implanted code. Otherwise, any crimimal could still steal your car with any dongle when you had left it parked in immobilised setting.
Re: AMD launches "one-click" serial port tuning
I think the "original code reflash" -as opposed to switch off the code back to standard tables- is neat but a bit of an overkill as it implies that someone would unplug the chip, put it on a PC chip reader and compare to the stock code.
Again, not what your typical Audi dealer (or even a legal car expert) is equipped/knowledgeable enough to do.
But I may be wrong so QUICK TEST : who has ever done -or is equipped for - an "hardcore" chip reading of an engine code ?
(candid question, I'd just be curious to know the skills around this forum -cause this is totally beyond mine-)

The point of a dealer using an SPS-3 as a "detector" didn't hit me at first but it's correct that I'm using Andiroo's SPS-3 device to change settings on mine and it worked immediatly. I don't remember anyone tweaking the sps-3 as Andiroo handed it to me.

Re: AMD launches "one-click" serial port tuning
Tim - I do not know what would happen if your car is set to anti theft, but unless its different for the RS4, you can use any SPS device to alter your boost/timing maps on the S3 (from stock to performance and different levels etc) - I originally didnt have a SPS3 and used Simons for a while until I got one myself. In fact I just got my SPS3 back after lending it to a customer with a Cupra R for 3 months (obviously they had the REVO remap done themselves)!

Re: AMD launches "one-click" serial port tuning
I find that news a little disturbing Dunc.
It is contrary to what I was told - unless the RS4 system operates differently.
Be easy enough to check at the next meet though.
Really did like the idea of having the car immoblised properly when in long term car parks etc.
