Any experience with More Than insurance and modifications

Post by rs4mikek » Thu May 21, 2009 5:43 pm

I have a 2006 B7 insured with More Than. So far the only mod on the car is a Milltek resonated catback system. Comment from More Than: As long as it does not increase performance no problem and no increase in premium (currently £328 per year with £1000 excess and 400 miles per year SDP, pretty good deal i think 8) ). I am thinking about having the car remapped by MRC and a high flow air filter added. Might even go to a Milltek 100 cell downpipe. Has anybody got any experience of how they will react when i tell them (throw me out, inrease premium ?) I have had my car and insurance for nearly 3 months.

Yep. They refuse to provide cover if the car has been modded to increase performance. I had More Than cover on a previous ( standard ) car, when I told them I'd just bought an RS4 B5 that was modded they refused to cover it. ( Clean licence, British, 40+ etc.etc ).

I moved over to Admiral.

i was with Admiral but they got a bit funny about mods. moved to Adrian Flux, added more mods and they saved me £100 on top!
My mate was with More than and had his car nicked, never recovered. they messedhim around for 9 months haggling over £2k. finally paid up but it was less than the car was worth, he just got sick of waiting.
Another mate with Elephant had a similar problem with pay outs.
if you go cheap there is a reason they can undercut everyone else IMO

Adrian Flux get my vote as a huge proportion of their customers drive "non standard" vehicles.
In fact the guy that took my call told me not to worry about my mods getting out of hand as he had a 400bhp Sierra Cosworth insured with his employer as well!
