Make sure you let us know how it goes :) I've got the full timing belt and associated bits and bobs coming up too.

Cheers.

I can defintely vouch for Jim.

He got all my servicing work for my last S4 over the stealer and he'll get my RS4 now that its out of warranty.

Not only does he have the knowledge and the kit. He's a genuine honest and a very nice bloke. He charges reasonable prices for parts and services and takes the time to talk anything over with you. Infact sometimes I wonder how he makes living. I certainly get my moneys worth from him. He lets you in the workshop to show you what he's doing etc. and if you're not interested there's suitably kitted out waiting room with loads of Audi driver and VW driver mags and a playstation / TV. Customer service doesn't really get any better - well for me anyway.

Christ I should get some commision for that :rocker:

got my s, checked out through vag com, ,only error was that one of the hall senders was problematic,, cleared but just came back ,, fitted a new sensor and re-tested,, problem solved,,, just had the timing belt / rollers etc. all fitted ,, so popped down to to see jim at star performance to see what the crack was, an when could this re-map could be done ,,..
excellant he was able to do it within the hour even although it was mid sat afternoon,, so ater jim had finished with an s3 on the rolling road ,,
set up and tested my car first before any work carried out, so within the hour , work carried out , roadtested and i am well impressed with the change especially the torque ,, so all in all well impressed with service and quality of work carried out,, ,,, some saving required now for the dual miltek,,

Sorry to resurrect this thread - I'm considering getting my cambelt done with Jim at Starperformance, I'm also considering getting it mapped at the same time. Are Jim's remaps the standard Revo ones (I've asked him but he's quite busy!) or is using the AMD maps ?

There's an article on Star Performance in the April issue of Audi Driver. Jim uses OCT mapping. It appears to be generic maps, but selected specifically for your car - the current map is downloaded, transmitted to Germany and the appropriate modified map sent back ... all in a matter of minutes.

Would Jim be able to change the timing belt on an RS6?

Even if your car is in waranty, you do not need to get the work done at an Audi Centre.

Not being funny but so as not to stray off topic here, it may be useful and more helpful to all if you wouldn't mind posting your entry as a new thread on the relevant forum Dr B.

Eh? I don't understand?

I thought we were talking about Starperformance in this topic.

Golich had mentioned getting his car serviced there, now it was out of warranty - so was I, even though it is STILL in warranty.

I just wondered if Jim would be able to do that and change the cambelt/ timingbelt - as well as chip the ECU!

PS I thought Jim was very good - he changed my exhaust and brakes (Miltek/ Stoptec), but it was 3 years ago in my S4.

That's all very well, but manufacturers are often known to make goodwill payments for repairs outside of the standard warranty term. I don't think this ruling would have any weight in such cases!
