RE: B6 S4 brakes on a B5 S4
would that give much better braking over std?
If you are buying new, forget the B6 brakes and jump straight into the RS6 ones.

I wouldn't buy all new and I'm back thinking maybe just fit B5 RS4. People seem to think the standard B6 S4 brakes are good so it just got me thinking...
I'll see what come up first, not many people seem to be changing their brakes on the B6's yet.

The comments on the S4 B6/B7 forum suggest that these brakes are much better, but I'm not sure if they'll fit the B5 without a modified caliper mounting bracket.

But it does seem the B5 RS4 and B7 RS4 brakes bolt straight on to the B5 S4. I see somethings common there. I could always be completely wrong though
I'm not planning much power or any track use so don't really want the expense of large multi piston claipers and curved vain discs...

The B7 RS4 brakes do bolt straight onto the B5 S4, providing you have 18" wheels with ET35 or ET45 plus 10mm spacers. I think the RS4 B5 ones will bolt straight on, but I'm not 100% on this.
If you're looking for a cheaper solution, you can pick up 2nd hand Porsche 6 pots for sensible money (about £300) plus suitable discs and pads for about the same again.

RS4 B5 require 18" wheels... £600 is more than hope to spend. Tight budget for me unfortunatly

What sort of price are used RS4 (B5/7)calipers going for these days. Wanna get a set for mine eventually but got the remap and cambelt change all at once so need to know how many pennies to save. Also I see Porsche calipers got a mention does anyone know what model to get them from and whats the fitting like as i take it they wont just bolt straight on.
Cheers. Steve

You can probably pick up used B5 RS4 calipers for as little as £150.
As for B7 RS4, they're unlikely to be any for a while, but they're identical to the RS6 ones, and you can find those on ebay for around £400.
You can use the Porsche 993, 996, or Cayenne and possibly others. I think they all need a suitable mounting bracket though.

porsche cayenne bolt straight on..you have to use a high tensile bolt with a lock nut..the only way to fit them is to remove the pads and use the space for ya spanners..let me know if ya need a pic..

What disc is needed to use these? Will the standard RS4 work? Pics would be useful.s4woody wrote:porsche cayenne bolt straight on..you have to use a high tensile bolt with a lock nut..the only way to fit them is to remove the pads and use the space for ya spanners..let me know if ya need a pic..

In a word no.
Porsche turbo (stoptech kit being best known) brakes fi tunder stock rims. However the RS4 B7 setup is similar price but does require 18" wheels.
Porsche Cayenne kit is ECS tuning stage 4.
Both are approx. same price $1900 + import +VAT + shipping etc...
