RS4 B8 or RS3 8V

Post by waring192 » Tue Nov 14, 2017 1:50 pm

Hi everyone,

Currently looking to change car and I think I’m leaning towards the RS4.

I used to have a S3 8P Sportback running stage 2+ along with KW V3 coil overs etc etc but changed to a Navara for work etc but it’s no longer needed.

I have two Labradors now so I think the RS3 is going to be a little small for them in the boot? I only do around 6000 - 8000 a year max and understand running costs on the RS4 will be quite a lot more than the RS3.

The only other two which I have taken a liking to is a RS6 C6 but they are looking a tad dated now and would be 8 years old. The other is a wildcard and took out a SQ5 which I was quite surprised by.

I’m struggling to find a B8 RS4 to take out, the nearest to me is over a hour away and not the spec/colour I want.

RS4 is a bit bigger, that's about it. The V8 can sound better than the 5-pot, but that's pretty subjective and definitely needs an aftermarket exhaust on the RS4. Don't think you'd get two labs in the back of an RS3 though.

What he said. RS3 sounds better from factory.

Also running costs will be pretty similar other than the 3 will be cheaper on petrol and tyres (and spark plugs I guess). Actually also has less oil capacity but thats not going to make a huge difference.

I used to have the exact same car as you, modified in the exact same way!

I have 2 dogs as well, and I have the RS4 B8.

Awesome car, feels a bit bigger and is good with it.

With a few minor mods, the RS4 goes from great to amazing.

Exhaust, intake, lowered and alloys make me a very happy man. The soundtrack is epic, every journey is an occasion! Fuel economy isn't the best, but then what do you expect from a 4.2l V8?!
