Selling gave me the biggest regret out of every car I've owned, both from a "God I <beep> love this car" point of view and a financial POV. My 1M owing period was pre-kids (ah heady days! ), and I was working for a smallish agency when we lost our biggest client. I was told there might have to be a number of redundancies, so to prepare myself I got rid of the £40k debt around my neck and sold it for what I paid...
In fairness I was probably being over-cautious, and hindsight showed me I was, but at the time I thought I'd done ok to get out financially unscathed. The market for them continued to fall ever so slightly for the 9-12months following. By that time our first Kid was on the way the market had started to pick-up and values were rising, but at that point I was too late for both practical and £ reasons.
I still count myself very lucky to have owned one. They are very very special cars indeed, no other car I've owned (or driven!) has evoked such emotion and driving enjoyment in me
I was so attached to the car I even took one last picture of it as it was being driven out of my driveway off into the sunset by the dealer who bought it...
