RS 3 spanked again.

Post by Nickyboy » Mon Aug 10, 2015 2:39 pm

Think I saw it lose to a Honda previously. Now to the Golf R, very strange seeing as they are in the same group.

£10k for noise and interior finish is quite a lot in my opinion.

I have to say that for the money the Golf is hard to beat, the only thing I miss is the noise of the RS4.

How's life in Japan Nick?

But the golf looks so dull. Don't get me wrong the RS3 could habe been a lot better but at least you can tell its an RS, unlike the R that looks like a tdi. The R32 was a more aggressive and sportier looking car by far.

You can tell it's an RS from the exhaust, but that's about it. Rest is just A3 give or take, plenty of pimped A3s about. Golf R400 for the win.

I agree, but also the front bumper and brakes give it away.
But how much will the R400 cost? I thought I read somebody guessing at 50k.

Even if it is 50k, that's near RS3 money and will be limited volume with higher residual.

Could end up going the same way as the BM 1M
I've not seen the r400 in the flesh, but I've been told it's looks the nuts!

Near? That's 25% more basic! But yes you are right if its limited in numbers (which it must be for that money) then residuals will be high which will effectively make it similar cost over 3 years. That's on the assumption it is any good, which im sure it will be.

Who's going to buy a billy basic RS3? It's going to be mid 40s at least.

That's strange. It makes me wonder how 'generous' the [S3 and Golf R] quoted 300 bhp actually is. How the RS3 can be half a second slower with another sixty something bhp (as quoted) and a closer ratio seven speed box and its RS4 brakes I'm not sure.

Great video as always. Love the track battles. However it really only tells us what we all probably thought. I'd love to like the RS3 but a black one went past me the other day and I genuinely wasn't sure if it was an S3, I had to look in my rear view mirror to see if it had dual oval tips. My money would be in the Golf out of the two. I think the Golf looks good too.

saw the R400 concept in the flesh at Geneva ... would have it in a heart beat if the production car stays close to that
